A gas explosion occurred at a market at Council Bus-Stop in the Idimu area of Lagos State on Saturday, resulting in the destruction of several goods.
Seven lock-up stores were reportedly destroyed in the fire. The fire also damaged a few cars that were parked in a mechanic shop near the stores.
In a statement, Margaret Adeseye, the director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, stated that the emergency call was made at 2:00 p.m. and that the fire originated from a gas cylinder leak at one of the shops, which caused an explosion that spread to multiple other shops.
It also revealed that the fire had been contained and that efforts were being made to put out any pockets of flame that might still exist.
