The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has made it clear that Ethiopian Airlines was the one that instituted the “Ghana-Must-Go” bag ban for travellers.
FAAN claims that Ethiopian Airlines implemented the policy internally.
Because of a misreading of a memo that was distributed, reports had incorrectly linked FAAN to the prohibition on the use of Ghana-Must-Go bags.
The accurate details were disclosed in a more readable version of the document that was sent as a notification to FAAN.
Through its official statement, FAAN made it clear that Ethiopian Airlines—not the regulatory body—was the one who first proposed the ban.
Ethiopian Airlines raised concerns regarding the form of the bags and how this could lead to damage to conveyor belts at airports when passengers load them.
