7 Kidney Destroyers In Young People

Here is the list of some top kidney destroyers commonly noticed in young people and how to prevent them.

1. HYPERTENSION

High blood pressure remains a Top Kidney destroyer
A lot of people don’t know their blood pressures.

Young people can be Hypertensive.
Hypertension with time damages & changes the kidneys which pretty much can be irreversible.
It affects other organs too.

2. DIABETES

The awareness around Diabetes has skyrocketed in recent times.
We know that anyone can have Diabetes. Old or Young
DIABETES is able to damage the kidneys when the sugar is uncontrolled.
It’s not surprising to find Diabetes and Hypertension occurring together.

3. ABUSE OF NSAIDS like Diclofenac, Felvin, Ibuprofen
People heavily abuse NSAIDS to relieve pain eg Artisans, ladies, etc
Chronic use is not kidney safe

Apart from direct damage to the kidney and blood vessels of the kidneys , they affect a lot of organs, can cause Ulcers too.

Use of AGBO & Herbal concotions

This will trigger people. Truth is street side Agbo has many unknown dangerous substances in them.

Noticed this with younger boys & ladies and some men who embraced bleaching.

5. CHRONIC GLOMERULONEPHRITIS

I won’t say much about this because it is very medical
A lot of times we usually don’t know why people have this.
People that had it were usually Younger (say 20s & 30s) and had very high Blood pressures.
Some had more tests that revealed.

6. ALCOHOL AND SMOKING

There has long term association between alcohol and smoking as they both have damaging effects on the kidneys.

Apart from Alcohol and smoking being linked to a lot of Cancers. High correlation to Hypertension, Heart attacks and more.

Hepatitis B , C  & HIV

It isn’t new that some viruses can affect Kidneys.
We advocate for Hepatitis B Vaccination. Poorly treated HIV can also affect the kidneys (Drugs are free)

There are uncommon organisms that can also affect kidneys. Worthy mention, SCHISTOSOMIASIS

7. POLYCYSTIC KIDNEY DISEASE

A condition where swellings (cysts) are found in the kidneys . It can affect kidney function

It was not as common as the rest though.  Many of them were found went the patients went for routine tests and later were then referred.

Never wait for symptoms that suggest kidney damage.

Some are  – no symptoms (early)

Later
-reduced or plenty urine
Persistent bubbly foamy urine
Leg swelling
Hiccups
Weakness
Vomiting
Loss of appetite
In severe cases, confusion, seizures, vomiting blood..etc

To reduce risks
-Shun abuse of drugs & use as prescribed by a Dr
– check your Blood pressure and sugar
Get your Hepatitis B vaccine
– say no to Agbo & Bleaching creams
– Do routine tests
-Cut alcohol and Smoking
-Take enough water

-Occasionally see a doctor
-Use your meds.
